I was born in Pensacola, Florida, in 1992. At the age of 18, I moved to Madrid (Spain) to study a double degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication. After working in documentaries, following the path of my early artistic vocation, I specialized in illustration.
I have dedicated the last few years to drawing, both in personal projects, and collaborating with different brands and clients, such as Editorial Planeta, Conde Nast, Zadig et Voltaire, Sony Music, Adidas, Diageo, Miss Hamptons or Scalpers.
In 2014 I launched my website www.begomartin.com, where I show my work and sell original drawings and prints. In 2019 I published my first illustrated book “Los huesos del corazón” (“The Heart ́s Bones”) with the publishing house Planeta.
My influences are quite eclectic: I've always been inspired by graphic design, folk art, Tibetan art, psychedelic music posters from the 60s, collage and street art. My fascination with very detailed drawings, tattoos, scientific and botanical illustration and skull ́s symbolism, led me to become obsessed with the Mexican Catrina. Throughout the years, I have been reinterpreting this element, exploring different techniques and points of view . I try to give skulls another meaning different from the one traditionally associated.
My creative process involves a lot of automatism. While drawing I love contradiction and enjoy finding ways to add contrasting elements, that together, evoke different messages and concepts.
